The nearest international airport is Bangkok Suvarnabhumi which is an hour’s drive away.

This duration will vary from bus to bus as some will make more stops than others. For travel to the north of Thailand, there are direct bus routes to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Ubon Ratchthani, and Korat, run by the Nakhorn Chai bus company, and departing from a makeshift station at the Central Pattaya Road - Sukhumvit Road intersection. Other buses make similar trips from the North-Eastern Bus Station on Central Pattaya Road.

Taxi minibuses also depart from the Victory Monument area (behind the food court), which leave when full, at least once per hour, or on charter. They are more comfortable than the bus. It can be reached via the skytrain.

Rail transportation to Pattaya

There is once a day rail service connecting Pattaya with the capital but don't take this option if you're in a hurry to get to the beach. If this appeals, get yourself to Hualampong Station in Bangkok for the 06.50 departure. On arrival in Pattaya, you'll have to take a tuk-tuk or motorcycle taxi to make the short trip into town.
